As explained in the text accompanying the prior penguin image, the Humboldt and Cromwell currents bring cold Antarctic waters along the South American Coast, and out into the Pacific area where the Galapagos Islands are found. Being fairly sensitive to cold water, I skipped much of the snorkeling. Ironically, this is what I did on this particular afternoon, and a Panga ride was provided for a number of us who didn't care to snorkel at that time, and we came across a number of penguins sunning themselves on some rocks. We spent a fair amount of time there, shooting from the bouncing panga, and came away with some nice images of these beautiful birds.
